The purpose of this set of short videos is to figure out and help you decide the size and color of your next iPhone. I’ll compare the iPhone 7 to the iPhone 7 Plus and the Black edition to the iPhone 7 Jet Black.
I’ll also give you a simple and fairly elegant solution for making your iPhone 7 Jet Black look cool and stay scratch free.
When deciding between the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, the main factors you should consider are: dimensions, comfortability, camera and screen size.
I will address those hard-to-decide scenarios where you highly prefer mobility but an easier-to-read screen or a better camera would be helpful too.
Question #1 – Size vs Screen Size
Choosing the right-sized device is related to your daily habits. For a woman carrying a purse, someone wearing a suit with larger pockets or those driving a car most of the day, the choice is easier, bigger will be better.
My test is for those, who wear jeans and the small size is preferred. I’ll try to answer the question if the larger screen worth the sacrifice of carrying a larger device.
In my case, living on a tropical island, wearing light clothing and shorts with small pockets and moving around all day, will give the perfect test-environment, where the small device is definitely preferred.
On the other hand, I’m taking multiple pictures daily and editing them on my iPhone. This is where the larger screen will give you better results so if you’re a blogger or you spend considerable time on editing pictures on your phone, the iPhone 7 Plus may be best to consider. It’s also closer to the iPad and desktop -size and you’ll have a better idea on how the picture will look on those larger devices.
You should also consider your age and the condition of your eyes, a larger screen will be helpful while reading, writing or playing games.
Question #2 – Size vs Features
The iPhone 7 Plus comes with a dual camera, an optical zoom at two times and a beautiful depth-of-field effect. At this point this is what you’re gaining over the iPhone 7. Ask yourself if you need the zoom and depth-of-field effect or you’re a point and shooter because at this point you can’t expect more from the dual-lens camera setup.
However, if you’re planning to keep the phone for more than a year, Apple may surprise with software upgrades that take further advantage of the secondary lens. Some possibilities include better low-light performance and playing around with focus, after the picture was taken. While both are technically possible, I wouldn’t wait for it until the next year when such an update may (or may not) upgrade existing iPhone 7 Plus devices.
Question #3 – Size vs Battery Life
The iPhone 7 Plus runs considerably longer on a single battery charge.
Early Decision (before testing the camera)
I suspect those, who care about the quality of their photos will take advantage of the screen size and new camera effect, making the iPhone 7 Plus a more appealing choice. The only thing we’ll have to figure out, and I’ll be back with a new video shortly after testing the iPhone 7 Plus for at least two days, is how does this thing fit into our pockets and how does it handle.
In the next two videos I’ll compare the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 6s cameras in various light-conditions, mostly focusing on low-light where the differences are obvious. Since we’re building live-streaming apps, I‘ll compare the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 6s to see how are they handling long live-broadcasting sessions and if we can achieve a better video quality with the iPhone 7.
Thanks for watching and stay tuned for the iPhone 7 Plus carry-on experience and comparing the latest phones to each-other. Please feel free to ask any question, we will answer them all here or during the next videos.
Thanks again!
