iPhone 6 vs OnePlus One – Full Comparison
The iPhone 6 is one of the hottest phones on the market. It has a beautiful shiny metalbuild, soft smooth edges, and a wonderful display. The OnePlus One on the other handhas a big beautiful display, killer battery, and incredibly low price. This is chad andin this video we’ll be doing a full comparison between the OnePlus One and Apple iPhone 6. Let’s get started. The OnePlus One currently comes in two color variations, Sandstone Black and Silk White. It’ll cost you $299 for the 16GB and $349 for the 64GB variant. These are actually thecompletely unlocked prices since the OnePlus One isn’t subsidized by carriers. The iPhone6 on the other hand can be bought for $199 with a two year contract and it comes in 16,64, and 128GB variants, but if you were to pay the full unlocked price it would be $700+. Neither of them have expandable storage or removable batteries. On the back, instead of opting for metal, your standard soft-touch plastic, or somethingglossy and cheap feeling, the OnePlus One we tested (“Sandstone Black”) has a fabric-ysort of texture. It doesn’t have any pull to it, and I’m inclined to think it’s justa strangely rough sort of plastic, but it feels like the inside of a tablet cover, thepart that sits against the screen when it’s closed up. It’s a unique and strange but notentirely unwelcome material. It feels like it’ll get dirty quick—like you can’t setit down for fear that it’ll get greasy and stained—but after over a week of use itstill looks great. It held up damn admirably to some time on my heinously unclean kitchencounter. The design of the OnePlus One really isn’t anything special. The phone doesn’t feelcheap, but at the same time it doesn’t feel like the HTC One (M8) or other aluminum phones. The backing has a rough sandpaper texture that I like, but it seems like it’s justplastic with some texture added. To put it into comparison to Samsung’s back plates,I would prefer this. The phone is nice and grippy in the hand which is espceially importantconsidering how large it is. Apple on the other hand has kept the metal backing but this year it has smooth curvesgoing around the edges which makes it much slicker than last years iPhone 5S. For me,i have to use a case on the iPhone 6, and it sucks because a case shouldnt be necesary. It’s just so incredibly slippery that i need to. I mean there’s no doubt the phone is premiumbut aesthetically speaking I truly hate the antenna design. It definitely looks the worston the gold model, I’ve noticed the space grey looks good, but I just don’t get it. Apple has outlined the top and bottom of the back of the device with these ugly lookingantennas that just don’t blend well with the phone. The size of these two phones are complete polar opposites. The OnePlus One completelytowers over the iPhone 6 and that’s something you should definitely consider before purchasing. Seeing both devices side by side and in my somewhat small hands should hopefully giveyou an idea of how usable they are. For me personally, the OnePlus One is much too big,but at the same time I love being able to have such a large display. Speaking of the screens of these device’s the iPhone 6’s has been increased up to4. 7 inches and now has 750p resolution. One thing I like about the iPhone 6’s glassis that curves over the edges and makes interacting with it really nice. The quality of the displayoverall is great despite being only 750p. The OnePlus One also has a stellar display with wide viewing angles and solid saturation. That being said, I did notice it could be a bit dim compared to Amoled displays on phone’slike the Samsung Galaxy S5. There also has been reports of people having faulty phoneswith yellow tint, so if you end up picking up the OnePlus One make sure you thoroughlyexamine it. One of the areas where the OnePlus One truly shines is in the software. It does run thelatest version of Android and it receives updates directly from CyanogenMod so it shouldbe much quicker than other third party OEMs. Also, it’s probably the most developer friendlyphone out there, as there’s a store where you can install paid and free themes, iconpacks, and more. It’s the most customizable phone out there and I’ve really enjoyedit. Along with that it’s also really quick and smooth. I’ve noticed no lag at all andit’s really impressive considering how much stuff I’ve installed. Now moving onto the iPhone 6, it runs the latest version of iOS, iOS 8. As far as thenew features on iOS 8 go there’s now widgets in the notification bar, the ability to quicklyrespond to message in apps, Apple Pay allows you to now make payments directly from youriPhone 6, and there’s also now talk to type technology. All of these are great additionsto the iOS operating system but if you’re currently on Android you probably know thesefeatures have been around for a while. That being said, the iPhone 6 is very quick andfluid, if you do decide to purchase the iPhone 6 you won’t be disappointed with the softwareexperience. However one awesome feature that’s exclusive to the iPhone 6 is touch id. It allows youto unlock your phone with your fingerprint and also make payments with applications likePaypal and purchase items through the App store without using your password. The OnePlus One has a large 3,100mAh battery that has been easily lasting me throughouta full day and in some cases two days if I use it conservatively. The iPhone 6 on theother hand has a much smaller 1810 mAh battery that will last you through a full day. I’vebeen putting it on the charger every night with about 10-15% left which is somewhat dissapointing. The final thing we’re going to cover is the camera performance. The iPhone 6 has an 8megapixel camera, but don’t let the 8 megapixels fool you though because it’s without a doubtthe best shooter on the market in my opinion. The OnePlus One has a 13 megapixel camerathat’s great, but not as good as the iPhone 6. It’s on the same level as the GalaxyS5 and other high end devices. Wrapping things up here, the iPhone 6 and OnePlus One are both great devices. One ishald the price, with enormous display, and great battery life; while, the other offersa higher price tag, nice display, and incredible camera.
