In this short 5 minute video, Xbox DIY will walk you through how to replace a broken iPhone 5 screen. Replacing the screen is pretty simple and shouldn’t take more than 10-15 minutes.
**Disclaimer: This is for replacing a screen that has both the LCD and digitizer. You will have to follow additional steps if you’re only replacing the screen, or only replacing the digitizer. I would recommend buying one that has both to make it easier.**
Here is what you’ll need:
– Replacement iPhone screen with LCD and Digitizer
– Suction Cup with Ring for lifting the screen
– Pentalobe Screwdriver
– Nylon Spudger
– Something to keep track of your screws while changing the screen
You can find the replacement screen with LCD/Digitilizer in the links above. Usually these come with the suction cup tool and pentalobe screwdriver. I would also recommend getting something to keep track of your screws while replacing the screen. They are small and can easily be lost.
Let’s check out what you need to do:
Step 1 – Remove 2 screws from the bottom of the iPhone.
Step 2 – Use the suction cup and nylon spudger to pry off and remove the screen
Step 3 – Remove 4 screws (pentalobe) from the plate covering where the screen is attached
Step 4 – Disconnect the 3 connectors holding the screen on the phone body
Step 5 – Reconnect the new screen via the 3 connectors
Step 6 – Place the plate covering the screen connectors back on and screw back in using the 4 screws
**Important: You must reset the battery (Step 7) for the screen to work**
Step 7 – Remove the 3 screws holding in the battery bracket
Step 8 – Disconnect, and reconnect the battery
Step 9 – Replace the 3 screws and the battery bracket
Step 10 – Reattach the screen by replacing the 2 screws at the bottom of the phone
Step 11 – Success.
Thanks for watching. Depending on your iPhone, a few of these steps may be different. Make sure to do research before attempting to repair your iPhone screen, and if your under the age of 18, make sure you find an adult to help you.
